In April, During the run of The Vagina Monologues, my collection of photos titled Teen Angst will be on display at the Halle Cultural Arts Center in Apex. The pictures are a collection of photos of teenaged girls. First is a headshot. These are a fashion forecast for Spring and Summer 2009. The next photo of each girl is a 'situational' shot. Each one represents a different issue teen girls face in their culture every day. They include: a cutter, a pregnant teen, a girl who is selling prescription drugs, a girl with body image issues and a teen who can never get enough material possesions (insatiable). Some of the pictures are disturbing. They deal with things some people would rather not talk about. It is important to note that the girls in the photos do not engage in the behaviors or situations depicted with the exception of the pregnant girl, who is pregnant and the cutter who does in fact cut herself.
